Cruel Intentions at The Other Palace

Booking

Booking was easy and made online after registering for their access scheme. They provided a step guide to the seats to help decide what best suits your needs.

After booking I was then contacted and asked I would prefer to stay in my chair or transfer. I chose to stay in my chair.

Due to a last minute medical appointment I had to change my ticket. This was easily done over the phone and as I was an access customer there was no charge.

Tickets are discounted by 50% for the access rate and carer rate.

Access Ticket: £19.25

Carer Ticket: £19.25

Theatre Location

This theatre is located up by Victoria staton and near Buckingham Palace. It is quite far away from the west end if you are walking but there are lots of amenities near by.

There are lots of transport links and accessible restaurants located near by including a food hall and the Flight Club which has an accessible Oche.

Theatre Access

Access to the theatre is via the main door which is level access with a ramp to the side once inside.

There was a security guard who checked our bag and checked all around my wheelchair before we entered. This was definitely the most thorough search I have had!

This theatre has a more regional local theatre vibe and the theatre is more intimate with one tiered section.

Access Host

Seat and Staging

Toilets

There was no access host to speak of. No one greeted us upon arrival, a member of the door  staff showed us to our seats but that was all.

Having said that our interactions with staff were very pleasant and they were all very polite and I'm sure that if we needed assistance they would have been more than happy to help.

We sat in seat N19 and N20.

This is a smaller theatre with a steep rake of seats.

The wheelchair spaces were on the back row and although the staggering of the seats made it easier to see between peoples heads we could not see anything that took place on the gantry above the stage.

For this performance there was quite a lot that took place above the stage which we just had to listen to. Although this was stated in the ticket purchasing, if you can't manage steps you have no option but to accept these seats.

The toilet was located in the foyer to the side of the auditorium.

You need a radar key to access it but multiple members of staff have these if you do not. In fact despite both myself and my carer having a radar key a staff member let us in as it was taking ages for us to find it at the bottom of a bag!

The toilet is large and modern with enough space to side transfer and turn around.

I visited in May 2024 and all views expressed above are my personal opinion.

It was my first visit to The Other Palace Theatre
