Wicked

Booking

Booking was  made via the internet after registering for their access scheme. I did email in advance to ask about access. The customer service representative was very helpful and discussed my options specifically in relation to the lift restrictions. I decided to have a centrally located transfer seat as reviews I had read stated that the wheelchair spaces has a restricted view.

Once booked I was emailed a copy of the access guide and specifically the lift weight limits.

Access Ticket: £27

Carer Ticket: Free

Theatre Location

This theatre is located in London's Victoria district which is quite a distance from the more centrally located West End Theatres, so it might take more planning. However there are lots of easy transport links and it's just a short stroll (or wheel) from Buckingham Palace.

There are a quite a few accessible restaurants close by as well if you fancy a pre theatre dinner.

Theatre Access

Access to the theatre is via an open stair climber platform lift. This has very stringent weight requirements so check in advance if your wheelchair is compliant first. I was informed that if the weight was too heavy or the lift did not work then there was a door around the back which could be used  to gain entry to the theatre.

Once inside there was another stair platform lift to the stalls seating area.

Seat and Staging

Toilets

The access was host Shannon was excellent. She greeted us upon arrival, and helped us access the platform lift.  She even took our drinks orders and brought them to our seat before the show.  We had ordered interval drinks to our seat using the prebook link emailed to us fro the theatre but she still checked to see if we needed any additional help.

At the end we waited for most people to leave before she escorted us out. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

We sat in seat Dress Circle F22 and F23. This was an aisle transfer seat and companion seat.

The seat was comfortable enough for me to sit with only limited discomfort in my legs towards the end of the show.

The view was excellent although it did feel quite far away from the stage.

The toilet was located in the foyer to the side of the auditorium.

As you need to access the stair lift to get to the seat it is advisable to go before you attempt to get to your seats.

The toilet is basic but  a good size  and there is not enough space to side transfer.

I visited in September 2024 and all views expressed above are my personal opinion.

It was my first visit to the Apollo Victoria Theatre
